Project Procurement Lead : Houston

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Project Lead to join our team. This role will primarily be responsible for overseeing and managing procurement efforts for major pipeline and facility projects. The Procurement Project Lead will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for the successful execution of these projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Experience in either the oil and gas or construction industry is highly preferred.

Position Functions

  • Lead the procurement efforts for major pipeline and facility projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods, materials, and services required for project execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and vendors, fostering strategic partnerships and ensuring the availability of high-quality goods and services.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, terms, and conditions.
  • Monitor project budgets and costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings, value engineering, and process improvements in the procurement function.
  • Identify and mitigate potential procurement risks, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and quality issues, through effective risk assessment and proactive management strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and finance professionals, to align procurement activities with project objectives and organizational goals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates on procurement activities, providing insights to management and stakeholders on project status, cost variances, and risk assessments.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably in the pipeline and/or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and systems. Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with contract management and legal aspects related to procurement.
  • Familiarity with risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Proactive and results-oriented with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
