Senior SCADA Developer : Austin | Houston

Job Summary

The SCADA Developer provides controls and communications technical support for the Pipeline SCADA system. Responsible for programming and maintaining Schneider Electric Geo SCADA HMI, and the communications between various pipeline RTU and PLC control systems. The role supports troubleshooting and improvement requests from Pipeline Operations and Controllers, and interfaces with Engineering teams to design and commission pipeline asset expansion.

Position Functions

  • Configures, programs, and maintains Schneider Electric Geo SCADA and AutoSol (ACM) software including SCADA system databases, alarming and control strategies.
  • Builds and supports SCADA HMI screens according to Control Room Management guidelines and HMI Style Guide.
  • Provides program maintenance support for SCADA host application software.
  • Interfaces with engineering and construction to setup and configure new devices according to P&IDs and electrical and network drawings.
  • Collaborates with operations personnel for startup of new facilities ensuring the necessary communications to deliver a successful transition and seamless customer experience.
  • Supports a wide range of communications protocols including Modbus, DNP3, OPC, and device-specific drivers.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves any data or communication network issues including cellular, satellite, and radio.
  • Works in close collaboration with the internal and external personnel in supporting and maintaining exceptional network system availability, reliability, and security.
  • Provides phone, email, and/or face-to-face end user support for SCADA application systems – end users include Control Room Operations, field I&E/Operations, and corporate end users.
  • Maintains controls documentation such as controls narratives, HMI, and alarm management philosophy.
  • Owns technical responsibilities under Management of Change and Control Room Management.
  • Works Monday-Friday schedule with possible extended hours to support 24/7 operation, including on call rotation covering nights/weekends/holidays.


Requirements

  • Minimum of Associates or higher degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Process Automation, or similar technical concentration from an accredited educational institution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering is preferred
  • 5 years industry experience in Process Automation and Control, SCADA, I&E or similar role preferred
  • Geo SCADA programming and support including proficiency in template creation and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (Must hold a valid Driver’s License)
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.


SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Programming languages – Function Block, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, ROC FST
  • HMI Design and Development
  • SQL tools and relational databases
  • Reading schematics, process and instrumentation, and process flow diagrams
  • Cell modem setup, troubleshooting and maintenance and TCP/IP communication and networking
  • Programming field PLC and RTU equipment including Emerson FB107 and ROC800 series, TotalFlow, SCADAPack, AB ControlLogix and RedLion
  • Operations Technology (OT, ICS) network operation and setup
  • Understanding of Industry Specific Standards such as DOT, API, and ISA
